ANAHEIM, Calif.--(AutomotiveWire)--July 22, 1998--Corvette Mike has joined the fight against cancer with an official sponsorship of the Corvettes Conquer Cancer Tour.

The four-month cross-country tour is led by three-time cancer survivor and Corvette enthusiast, Sandy Labaree. The tour combines two of Labaree's greatest loves: volunteering for the American Cancer Society and taking part in Corvette activities.

Labaree, a Maine resident, is traveling 25,000 miles in her torch red 1997 Corvette coupe to major Corvette events nationwide. She will be speaking about her experience with cancer, promoting cancer awareness and raising funds for the American Cancer Society's programs of research and cancer control.

Labaree has faced cancer three times and recently completed aggressive treatment for her disease. She is optimistic about her future, but feels the need to reach out and share her story with others.

"Nearly 1.2 million people will be diagnosed with cancer this year. I welcome Corvette Mike's generosity and commitment to the fight against cancer," said Labaree. "I invite fellow Corvette owners to join Mike and me in supporting the Corvettes Conquer Cancer Tour. Everyone knows someone who has battled cancer and I have found Corvette enthusiasts to be caring and generous people," she added.

"We are proud to sponsor Sandy and the Corvettes Conquer Cancer Tour," said Mike Vietro, owner of Corvette Mike. "She is an inspiring woman and her message is an important one. Corvette Mike is pleased to be a part of the Corvettes Conquer Cancer Tour, and we plan to help Sandy raise funds to find a cure for this disease."
